On August 18, we gathered to remember and honour the brave men and women who served in Vietnam with a moving commemoration service held outside the cenotaph for Vietnam Veterans Day. Veterans, their families, and community members came together to pay their respects and reflect on the sacrifices made by so many.

Lifeline’s Out of the Shadows Walk is a national event dedicated to supporting Australians in crisis and remembering those lost to suicide. On World Suicide Prevention Day (September 10th), Ballina RSL reaffirms its commitment to this cause by participating in the Walk and raising funds for Lifeline Northern Rivers, a crucial organisation in our community.

Established by Carrie’s Beanies 4 Brain Cancer Foundation in partnership with the WEHI, the Brain Cancer Centre, is a beacon of hope for the battle against brain cancer. The Centre is a powerhouse of medical innovation, bringing together the brightest research minds from across Australia with a singular focus: to ensure that one day, no lives are lost to brain cancer.

This year, Ballina RSL had the distinct privilege of again hosting the Ballina Shire Business Excellence Awards. The event was a resounding success, shining a spotlight on the extraordinary talents and steadfast dedication of our local business community. The night was filled with enthusiasm and appreciation, reflecting our shared commitment to fostering a thriving regional economy here in Ballina.

June 27th marks PTSD Awareness Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and the impact it has on individuals and their families.
