Blues Club – a winner!
Blues fans rejoice! In a break from the same-old, the Ballina RSL has embraced the Sunday Sessions of the Blues Club and is pleased to announce the continuation of the event into 2023.
The Blues Club is a showcase of The Blues bands and blues artists from the Northern Rivers (and beyond). Patrons now have the chance to experience some of the best ‘live’ music for free, while in the absolute comfort of the Riverside Lounge, with a spectacular view of the Richmond River. The club is also serving up some great taste treats from the kitchen and drinks are at ‘happy hour’ prices throughout the afternoon.
March is shaping up to be exciting for the Sunday sessions.
‘House band’ FBI features two players that are icons of the blues, Mr Tommy Cuyler on ‘electrifying’ guitar and vocals, and Mr Fabulous, Steve Foster on harmonica. Of course, Slim Pickins is a blues stalwart, returning to the area he loves, with his old-style blues, bringing slide and Dobro to the Sunday Sessions will be a thrill for all the blues purists.
SCQ (Soren Carlbergg Quartet) shares the spot as the ‘house band’. Soren is a guitarist and vocalist in this dynamic outfit but is also the main instigator of The Blues Club and a passionate blues fan. Soren shares vocal and guitar duties with the very talented (and young) Louis Muller, a young man with a great blues ‘feel’ and plenty of hot guitar licks. SCQ has ‘Its Probably Us’ as guest act. This is a duo of John Buschelle and Michael Pellmore, two of the best vocal harmonies you’ll hear, a treat for the ears. Their set will be backed by SCQ rhythm section of Martin (the dancing bass-man) and the anchor, Derek Armistead on skins.
