Singing and entertaining audiences is Dean’s favourite pastime. He is looking forward to the show and presenting the new look Sophistication.

Our fabulous new Bass player Tina Rogers settled on the Sunshine Coast a few years ago after a lifetime of musical performances around Australia and overseas.

After graduating from the Queensland Conservatorium on Double Bass in 1990, she joined the Australian Army Band initially until she decided what she really wanted to do. 24 years later, and with many career highlights, Tina retired to the Sunshine Coast where she has continued to play up a storm in, her personal favourite, local musical theatre groups. She also performs regularly with the Queensland Pops Orchestra, SCREAM Jazz Orchestra and even toured last year with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.

Tina’s happy place is being on stage with her bass and her partner in crime, Dean Doyle. She is very excited to be here performing for you and is looking forward to the show.

Paul Belsham, along with Dean Doyle and Narelle Harris (who recently retired from DDS) is a founding member of Dean Doyle with Sophistication.

Paul has a long and distinguished career as a Drummer (starting in 1960s) in various bands in New Zealand, and for the last 25 years in Australia.

Since the1990s Paul, as Musical Director, and his wife Sue Belsham as Director, have been a successful part of numerous amateur and professional Theatre Productions. Firstly, in Canberra, and for the last 20 years with the Ballina Players Theatre. Paul is also an accomplished set designer and set builder which has really enhanced the Theatre shows over the years.

Dean first met Paul when they performed in the musical Les Miserable together at the Ballina Players Theatre. Paul drumming and musical directing, and Dean as one the lead players (Marius). They became good mates who both liked the same kind of music. They joined with the fabulous Narelle Harris and Dean Doyle with Sophistication was born.

Paul has his own following at the shows and really enjoys the strong connection the band has with our Ballina audience.

Glen Shepherd is the new Piano player for Dean Doyle with Sophistication. After the retirement of the fabulous Narelle Harris, Glen has stepped into his new role adding a jazzy energy to the band. It’s early days, but the new direction for the band is very exciting.

Glen began playing gigs as a teenager in 1960s.

He has covered many genres over the years including Rock, Jazz, Old-Time and Big Band music just to name a few.

Not only has Glen performed with the fabulous Dean Doyle, but he’s also accompanied such talented artists as Denise Drysdale, Little Patti and Normie Rowe.

Glen plays with many ensembles from the Tweed to The Northern Rivers. If you are into dancing, you have probably seen him playing piano at the RSL Dance, a commitment he’s had for the last 30 years, or you may catch him playing Bass Ukelele with the Coolangatta Players.

He is the Techno wiz of the band as he is the embracer of modern technologies, computers, keyboards, and very well qualified after teaching Science for 32 years.

Now that you’ve met the band, Dean Doyle with Sophistication are excited to be performing for you today.
