Cash to Jackson

Formed in 2019 in direct response to the plethora of requests for a well priced country tribute band playing homage to the biggest country artists in the world, these boys have shot out of the blocks like a blue blood greyhound.

With a million tribute bands playing everything from Adam Ant to the Beatles and back, no one seemed to be covering the best that country music had to offer in a tribute except a few acts that played Cash only.    What about the huge number of country music hits from acts like Alan Jackson, the iconic Jimmy Buffett, Creedence, Garth Brookes, Zac Brown, Brooks & Dunn that have crossed over into mainstream music? Why not have an act that plays songs like ‘It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere, Chattahoochee, Little Bitty, Don’t Rock the Juke Box’ as well as the big Cash hits ‘Ring of Fire, Orange Blossom Special, Ghost Riders, Jackson, Folsom Prison Blues’, multi million sellers like ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ & the song that now finishes the show, the monster worldwide country dance hit of Brooks & Dunn ‘Boot Scootin’ Boogie’?

It was in response to this, that CASH 2 JACKSON was born.

The band is made up from seasoned musicians who have all played in many bands over many years in north coast NSW. Headed by one of the most experienced north coast musicians in Mitch Young or as they call him in the band ”Mitch Young Gun” , he has played for some thirty five plus years and can cover piano, bass, guitar & vocals. Mick ‘Guitar’ Murphy is on lead vocals and lead guitar. Dave ‘the Burgher’ Strauss is of Austrian & German heritage & many say he can trace his ancestors back to the  famous 19th century Strauss families of Austria. He alternates with fiddle player Mal Winckle.  Darren De La Rosa is the drummer who has just moved to Coffs from Sydney and with a name like that does not need an alias. He now lists Cash 2 Jackson as his favourite hobby.

The band’s aim is never to take themselves too seriously. As Mitch says, “We want to give the audience a good time, to make them enjoy themselves & go home happy. We play the songs like ‘Boot Scootin Boogie’ no one else will touch & I’ve been asked so many times to play ‘5 O’clock Somewhere’ I thought why not make  a band around that song.
