Tutu for Our Kids Day is a fun and colourful way to support local children and families, while helping raise awareness for the incredible work being done across our region.

There are plenty of ways to get involved

  • Wear a tutu to work, school, sport or around town
  • Encourage your workplace, club, school or community group to participate
  • Host a fundraising activity, morning tea or themed event
  • Share your photos and help spread the word
  • Make a donation to support local kids and their families

Marine Rescue Ballina Community Memorial Service

Ballina RSL is honoured to support Marine Rescue Ballina as they host a Community Memorial Service on Sunday 5 July at 11am at RSL Memorial Park, beside the Ballina RSL Sub-Branch Cenotaph.
The service will provide an opportunity for our community to come together in reflection, respect and support following the tragic events of 4 May.
We pause to honour Marine Rescue Ballina volunteers Bill Ewen and Frank Petsch, acknowledge the volunteers, first responders, families and emergency services personnel affected, and recognise the extraordinary courage and service of all those who responded.
The service is open to all members of the community.
For those unable to attend in person, the memorial will be livestreamed, with viewing details to be published by Marine Rescue NSW prior to the event. The livestream will also be broadcast to a large screen at the event and will be visible and audible for those wishing to attend by boat.

Purple Friday – Clubs Say No to Domestic Violence

Purple Friday – Clubs Say No to Domestic Violence is a state-wide activation taking place on Friday, 8 May to demonstrate our industry’s commitment to creating safer communities and workplaces. The date is significant, with May being Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month.

Clubs across NSW already host Purple Friday every week, with staff wearing purple shirts to raise awareness of domestic violence and to promote respectful relationships. Friday, 8 May is an opportunity for all registered clubs to get involved and come together to highlight the role that our industry plays in the prevention of domestic violence by turning their clubs purple — think staff wearing purple shirts, hats, badges or pins; purple decorations; digital signage; social media tiles and more!

Domestic and Family Violence remains a serious issue in Australia:
▪️ 1 in 4 women will experience DFV
▪️ Over 50% of women seeking crisis accommodation are turned away each night
▪️ 77 women and 26 children lost their lives in 2025
▪️ The cost to Australia is estimated at $26 billion annually

This day is more than awareness. It’s about action. It’s about community. It’s about making it clear that everyone deserves to feel safe and supported.
