International Men’s Day Charity Golf Event

Raising $20,000 for Human Nature Adventure Therapy

Ballina’s inaugural International Men’s Day Charity Golf Day was a quietly significant moment for our community. What began as a simple idea from Joeline of Hartley’s Fresh grew, through genuine collaboration and goodwill, into a shared effort between Ballina RSL and Ballina Golf & Sports Club. Together, we set out to create a day that fostered connection, supported men’s wellbeing and brought people together for a purpose bigger than golf.
With 30 teams, a sold-out field and perfect playing conditions, the event united golfers, businesses and supporters for a morning of camaraderie, fun and purpose. Importantly, the day achieved its fundraising goal – raising $20,000 through sponsorships and raffles to support Human Nature Adventure Therapy, whose nature-based programs empower young people across the region.
The morning began at dawn with a MOCO-supplied breakfast cooked by Ballina RSL Chairperson Darren Murnane and Pottsville Sports GM Ryan Clarke, setting a lively tone from the outset. As players moved around the course, they were kept well-fuelled by the Ballina Fair Margarita Crew, Asian Green, and the ever-reliable Ballina Golf Club Kiosk team.
A standout highlight was the presence of golfing great Craig Parry, who generously took shots for teams and joined Ballina RSL Vice Chairperson Peter Sinclair for an engaging Q&A that captivated the crowd. His insight, humour and generosity added something truly special to the day.

Congratulations to this year’s winners:

1st Place – Ainsworth
2nd Place – Asahi
3rd Place – Lismore Workers Club

And a special mention to Ben Dargie, the only player to conquer the now-famous Margarita Hole.
The full experience was captured beautifully by our event partners at Cyberry, whose photography showcases the energy, colour and community spirit of the day.
